Larry Hama is a long-time comic writer, especially around Marvel. In the ’80s, Hama wrote the Marvel run of the G.I. JOE comics, creating a lot of the popular lore of the franchise and even writing the bios that came with the toys. Hama was also the principal writer of WOLVERINE in the ’90s. Hama returns to Marvel with a miniseries starring one of the publisher’s top martial artists: IRON FIST.
IRON FIST stars Danny Rand, a rich corporate heir who was thought to have died as a child in a plane crash, when he was actually saved and raised in a hidden mystical city where he learned martial arts and killed a dragon to gain a superpowered fist. If you’re only familiar with the character from the Netflix series, I recommend checking out the comics for a more action-packed and supernatural version compared to the lackluster version on screen. In addition to this new miniseries, I suggest the 27-issue run of THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST, written by Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction, and Duane Swierczynski, drawn by David Aja and Travel Foreman.
