Warner Brothers seems to be embroiled in constant chaos with DC Entertainment films. The solution to the confusion is pretty clear to outsiders even if attaining it isn’t easy. You need a true comic book visionary behind the scenes driving the entire universe. This person needs to understand the comic book books from cover to cover as well as the need to embellish and adjust that universe to fit within the confines of cinema for a mas audience. Yes, it’s a tall order. As much fun as Zack Snyder can be he doesn’t appear to be the guy. AS talented as Christopher Nolan was he didn’t really understand comics. Marvel has been lucky with Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon setting the pace for Marvel.

Warner Brothers may actually have that person in Ben Affleck. He’s a solid actor, a proven director, and a real fan of comics. Rumors of him not directing The Batman has cropped up lately and even he has added fuel to that fire with comments made to press. Up to now the only word was that he wouldn’t suit up, or direct, until the script is right. Now, with his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, that still seems to be the case. His offhanded comments about maybe not directing the next superbat film seem to stem from being annoyed that all of the focus from press has been on the high profile DC Entertainment film rather than the film he’s actually been working on for the last year and a half, Live by Night. Gis comment on Kimmel:

It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating because, like, Live by Night took me a year-and-a-half to write it and get it ready, and I worked really hard. It’s just nobody gave a s**t! No one was like, ‘Where’s Live by Night?’ But with Batman I keep on getting, ‘Where’s The f**king Batman?!’ And I’m like, ‘Whoa, I’m working, give me a second!

At this point The Batman is set to begin filming in the Spring with an as yet undetermined 2018 release.
