What to give to the film fanatic that picky of visuals, sound, and all things movie? Well we have the answer here with Zach’s list!
If there is one thing that I have my eye on, that I cant wait to have is the ability to finally see what 4K blu ray is all about. Unfortunately at this time most, and I mean all two players in existence are well over $200 which is just simply out of my price range at the moment but, if you are into the next collectors format to really push the limits of your home theatre, I’d say this would be a good investment as long as there is good material to show off. If anyone from the movie studios is listening that means putting classic films in 4k you dummies. No one wants to get 2k mastered films! If Star Wars, Die Hard, Lawrence of Arabia or even Lord of the Rings were put out in this format, I would seriously get a credit card and pick up one of these players today.
I’ll be honest; probably one of my favorite things to come out of the Force Awakens last year was the little cute robot ball BB-8. From his wonderful personality comes this super cute desktop lamp to help motivate your late night writings as your editor breathes down your throat wondering why you didn’t write a list when there was a clear due date. Oh…that got a little personal there! 😉 Now if only this lamp was able to make noises and hover in the air it would be perfect, though I don’t think it would be a lamp anymore at that point.
What would my gift list be without a blu-ray? And what better set than this lovely box from The Criterion Collection with all three Del Toro films: Cronos (1993), The Devil’s Backbone (2001) and Pans Labyrinth (2006). I’ll be completely honest, I’ve never actually seen either Cronos or Devil’s Backbone, but picking up Pans Labyrinth alone on Criterion alone, makes this a no-brainer in deciding to pick up for the holiday season. Sit back, relax and watch some horror.
So this might be a bit jumping the gun, but deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) has been an artist (along with Ninja Sex Party) that ive discovered, loved and supported since around 2011 with each new album. Recently I came to find out that he was coming out with a new album, and I immeaditly went and pre-ordered the album. While only one song is available to listen to (Let Go feat. Grabbitz) I really like the direction Zimmerman has been taking since his album “While 1<2”. I know this is really subjective, but its something that I cant wait to enjoy.
Ok lets get real, I don’t own one of these and wont for a very long time with the device costing $799, but since its my list, damnit, its what im going to get as soon as I win the lottery; well that and pay off all my bills, get a new car and get other pro camera gear, but then the VIVE! This is a VR headset mainly for gaming and other applications that can simulate an environment that you can walk around in. One must have a pretty powerful computer to run it, since it requires at least 90 frames per second to appear realistic, but graphic cards are finally getting to this level for a ok price tag. But I digress, I want it. That’s all I got to say, I want it.
