It has been nearly a year since the first teaser trailer for Green Inferno hit the internets. The film was gathering some controversy at festival screenings and supposedly having distribution difficulties. I believe these “difficulties” were more of a marketing ploy, but it has been a while since we’ve heard anything about this film. Now we know the film hits theaters wide on September 25th. I’m hoping what hits theaters is a hard R rating and we get a really challenging director’s cut on blu-ray. The film follows a group of youngsters attempting to save remote rain forests, an area called the green inferno. Unfortunately their plane crashes and chaos ensues.
Eli Roth is channeling the classic grindhouse cannibal films of the 60’s and 70’s here. Hopefully he’s bringing us the best of what those films offered and adding something new to the mix. It has been a long time since Cabin Fever and Hostel. It’s time for Roth to show us he still has it! Check out the trailer via Facebook below:
