It’s not often that a long in the tooth film franchise can break box office records seven movies in but that’s just what Furious 7 has done. The film opened at pver a $143 million over the weekend and is on track to break $300 million domestically and $1 billion globally. The film came with great traction from the audience pleasing 5th and 6th installments and sadly many fans probably wanted to see Paul Walker in his last onscreen performance since he died during production. Furious 7 took the record for biggest April weekend from Captain America The Winter Soldier which brought in 95$ million last year. The film is also the second highest performing 2D only IMAX screening behind The Dark Knight. There will surely be more of these films even though this one was billed as “one last ride…”
