If there’s one thing you can count on in theaters it’s that there’s a low budget horror film to see. Most of these films are barely worth the cost of admission honestly. They usually aren’t completely horrible but they aren’t going to break any ground. There are exceptions, with Paranormal Activity being one. When Sam Raimi is producing one though, it’s worth a look.

Sam has done big budget super hero movies but he’s never lost that sensibility for the low budget scarefest. Drag Me to Hell was proof of his still existing abilities with that sort of film. Now he’s produced The Possession, “true story” of a family dealing with a demonic possession. Of added interest is the fact that the film is directed by Ole Bornedal the director of the visually arresting Nightwatch films. These two artists could make for an intriguing partnership.

The Possession stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (WATCHMEN) and Kyra Sedgwick (“The Closer”). The film hits theaters August 31st. We have the first poster for your perusal below:
