Most critics expected The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer to finally bump The Dark Knight out of the number one spot on the cox office this weekend.  Well, it wasa close rave but it just didn’t happen. By just under a million and a half bucks the Dark Knight held the number one spot.  swing Vote bowed with a very low 6 million bucks at number 6 of the top 10.

Of the Top 10 The X-Files was this week’s Hellboy being the only film to drop substantially moving from the number 4 spot to number 9.  Everything else just seemed to inch down one spot with the launch of The Mummy, except for one other film.  Journey to the Center of the Earth, another Brandon Frasier vehicle managed to hold its number 5 spot.  Here’s the list:

  1. The Dark Knight 43,800,000
  2. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor 42,450,000
  3. Step Brothers 16,300,000
